FAQ
Which browsers and computers work?
Chrome, Edge, Opera and Brave on a Mac or a Linux computer. Safari and Firefox can’t connect to USB devices. Windows, phones and tablets aren’t supported.
Do I need to install anything?
No. On Linux, give the browser USB access to your watch once. If Garmin Express or the Terento app is open, quit it before you connect the watch.
Which Garmin watches work?
Garmin watches that support maps. Terento checks your model before it writes anything to the watch.
Are the maps free?
Yes. The maps are based on OpenStreetMap and come from community map providers. Terento is free and open source.
What happens to the maps already on my watch?
They stay on your watch. Terento adds the new maps and keeps 1 GB free on the watch. When you update a map, Terento removes its older version only after the new one is checked.
Is there an app as well?
On a Mac with Apple Silicon, the free Terento app for Mac installs the same maps.
